Crosscutters fall on the road to West Virginia 8-3 on Monday
The Williamsport Crosscutters’ win streak was snapped by West Virginia who led wire-to-wire in an 8-3 win over Williamsport on Monday.
Despite the three runs, Williamsport’s offense recorded 11 hits in the loss. Carlos Castillo was 3 for 5 with two RBIs and a run scored and both Jackson Mayo and Joey Parliament went 2 for 3 with each recording a walk. Mayo scored twice and Parliament picked up his 18th RBI of the season.
Vantrel Reed had a multi-hit night by going 2 for 5 at the plate. TJ Racherbaumer had the only extra-base hit with a double while Marcus Brodil went 1 for 5.
Kade Grundy made his sixth start of the season for Williamsport and took the loss, falling to 0-3. Grundy surrendered seven runs, five runs on six hits, four walks and a strikeout after 3 2/3 innings of work.
