South Williamsport’s ground game had plenty of success as South Williamsport ran it 38 times for 271 yards in a 31-14 win over Canton on the road on Friday.

Cade Lusk had a team-high 155 rushing yards and a touchdown on 20 carries while Garrett Lorson ran for 113 yards on 16 carries for two touchdowns.

Ryder Route put Canton ahead 7-0 on a 20-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter from Ryan Wesneski before South used a nine-point second quarter to take the lead for good.

A safety cut the deficit to 7-2 before Lorson had a two-yard touchdown run in the second quarter with 63 seconds before halftime to put the Mounties ahead, 9-7.

South Williamsport scored 22 points in the third quarter to go ahead, 31-7. Lorson and Lusk both had rushing touchdowns in the third quarter and Levi Butler reeled in a 15-yard touchdown reception from Cole Gerber for a score.
