All 3 of the Temples enjoyed final season together

DAVE KENNEDY/Sun-Gazette Hughesville’s Kylie Temple looks to pass against Central Columbia earlier this season. Temple got to play her final season alongside her sisters Katelyn and Jayda this year for the first time.

For the first time in her career, Hughesville’s Kylie Temple got to play alongside her two sisters Katelyn and Jayda for the high school’s varsity team this fall.

Unfortunately for Kylie, it’s also the last time she’ll get to do so. Kylie is a senior while Katelyn is a junior and Jayda is a freshman. But for Kylie, she was able to enjoy the final games the trio had together.

Hughesville’s season came to an end on Monday evening as the Spartans lost a heartbreaker to Troy, 1-0, in the District 4 Class AA semifinals.

“It’s great. I’ve played with Kat my entire life and Jay has always been at training (practices) with us and we’ve been at all of her games growing up too,” Kylie said. “It’s super momentous.”

All three players saw time on the field in Thursday’s District 4 Class AA quarterfinal rout against Wellsboro at Balls Mills, 5-0. While the trio may not have all been on the field at the same time together, they all played significant minutes.

Kylie and Katelyn both played the majority of the first half together as Kylie had two goals and an assist in the win while Katelyn had a goal. In the second half, Jayda was able to get time on the field alongside Katelyn at times.

At any time, a Temple was on the field for the Spartans.

“It’s a little more special, and it makes it more special knowing I have both of them here this year and knowing I’m graduating and I get just one year where they’re both on my team and get to have pretty much every day with them at practices and games,” Kylie said. “I have the ever loving support of both of them every day. It’s a nice feeling.”

Soccer has been part of the trio’s life since they were kids, playing together at various levels or club teams up through varsity action. And Thursday they got to experience a win together in districts.

The year didn’t end how Hughesville and the Temples were hoping. Monday’s loss stung with high hopes this season for another shot at a district title and a state berth. But regardless, the Temple sisters enjoyed the time together on the pitch and soaked up every moment before the season wrapped up.
