Lycoming suffers 69-7 loss on the road to Susquehanna

SELINSGROVE — Freshman linebacker Ryder Bowen, a Wellsboro graduate, picked up a fourth-quarter fumble and returned it 36 yards for a touchdown to highlight the day for the Lycoming College football team, which fell to Susquehanna University — which is receiving votes in both Division III national polls — 69-7, in Landmark Conference play on Saturday at Amos Alonzo Stagg Field.
Junior Terrence Oliver rushed 13 times for 76 yards, becoming the fifth running back in program history to reach 2,600 career rushing yards. Sophomore Joe Lyons III finished 10 of 25 for 99 yards, senior Dawson Debebe caught three passes for 45 yards and senior Brendan Clark, a Loyalsock graduate, caught three passes for 39 yards.
Sophomore Daniel Atsou had 13 tackles to lead the Warriors (1-5 overall, 1-1 Landmark), adding one for loss. Sophomore JayVon Story had six stops, one for loss and a forced fumble and sophomore Cam Tolbert had five tackles and a pass breakup.
Susquehanna (3-2 overall, 1-0 Landmark) scored on its first 10 drives before Story forced the fumble that Bowen picked up for a 36-yard score in the fourth quarter.
Rahshan La Mons rushed nine times for 84 yards and two scores for Susquehanna. Josh Ehrlich was 25 of 32 for 279 yards and three touchdowns. Daniel Growney caught five passes for 45 yards and a touchdown. Luke Hughes led the team with five tackles.
The Warriors are back on the field on Saturday, Oct. 18, when they head to Western Connecticut State University for a 1 p.m., Landmark Conference game.
