MILL HALL – This one was not for the faint of heart.

It was a Tuesday showdown of 10-2 teams when Central Mountain hosted Williamsport in volleyball action. The two teams had strong front-row play and numerous long volleys that would highlight the talents of both teams.

The contest had a postseason sense of urgency feeling to it as both teams rode the rollercoaster of emotions throughout the contest. Central Mountain was clutch when the pressure was on as it topped Williamsport by a score of 3-1 with set scores of 26-24, 25-15, 19-25 and 26-24.

“Hats off to Williamsport. They brought it tonight,” said Central Mountain volleyball head coach Chipp McCann following the match. “I’m happy we got the win. We faced adversity and overcame it. It was good to see but we have a lot of things we have to work on yet.”

“We’ve had a couple games where it came down to end where we had to pull out a fifth set and we really had to dig down deep”, said Williamsport volleyball head coach Patti Jones. “We’ve had adversity we’ve had one of our outside hitter that’s been out for a while. We really worked hard adjusting to that. They adjusted today and made changes the kid can work on. I’m super proud of them and all their hard work.”

Holding a 2-1 lead entering the fourth set, Central Mountain would start with three service points from Chloe Confer to quickly give her team an early 3-0 advantage. Three side outs later, the Wildcats would extend that lead to ten after seven consecutive service points by Reese Walizer. In that run, Kylie Rauch was deadly accurate from the front line.

Slowly but surely the Williamsport offense started to claw their way back in. They were able to cut the lead to 17-10 and then things exploded for the Lady Millionaires. Four consecutive service points from Keiser quickly shrunk the Central Mountain lead to 17-15.

Trailing by three late, Williamsport would once again sizzle from the serving line. Peyton Dincher stepped to the serving line and reeled off five consecutive service points to put her team in the lead at 22-20.

The Millionaires were able to push the game to another win to tie the match up. But with their backs against wall and the game in the balance, it would be a behind the back shot by Wildcat Chloe Confer that would tie the game at 24, forcing it to go at least two more points.

That was all the momentum that Central Mountain needed, as Rauch took care of the rest from the service line, posting an ace and ending the night with a no return on her last serve, clinching the win for Central Mountain which puts them to a sparkling 11-2 record on the year.
