LHU wrestling claims three individual titles at Sunday’s Journeymen Classic

BETHLEHEM – The Lock Haven men’s wrestling team wrapped up a busy weekend in Bethlehem by competing in the Journeymen Classic at Freedom High School on Sunday.

Ousmane Duncanson (165), Cael Black (185) and Ethan Miller (285) all claimed individual titles, while DeShawn Farber (149) and Sam Gautreau (174) brought home silver.

Duncanson led The Haven with a team-high four wins and went 4-0 to claim the title at 165 Ibs. blue bracket with a pair of falls (1:15 & 6:15).

Black finished 3-0 with three decisions to claim first place in the 185 Ibs. green bracket.

Miller also went a perfect 3-0 with a pair of falls coming under the four-minute mark to claim the title at heavy weight in the green bracket.

Farber started off 3-0 with two major decisions before falling in the 149-pound grey division final to Long Islands’ Nieto Luke.

Gautreau went 2-1 with a tech fall (5:14) in the opening round. Gautreau fell in the 174-pound tan bracket final by a decision to University of Pennsylvania’s Brian Heard.

On Saturday, the Bald Eagles opened their dual schedule by competing against Long Island University and Indiana. The Haven soared past LIU, 49-6, and fell to Indiana, 25-8. No. 29 Wyatt Henson (141), Lucas Kapusta (149) and Kade Sottolano (285) headlined the yesterday’s action by going 2-0 in their respective matches.

Next up, the Bald Eagles return to the mat on Sunday, Nov. 23, and will travel to Philadelphia to compete in the Keystone Classic.
