Shore grad Dincher scores career-high 14 in Le Moyne loss to Bucknell

LEWISBURG — Jersey Shore graduate Peyton Dincher, a freshman guard for Le Moyne, picked a great time to go off for a career high in points.

Playing at Sojka Pavilion in Lewisburg, not far from her hometown of Jersey Shore, Dincher scored a career-high 14 points, including six in the last two quarters each, to lead the Dolphins in a 65-41 setback at Bucknell.

The former Bulldog standout also had four rebounds for a fourth straight game. Dincher played 22 minutes, 28 seconds coming off of the bench. She went 5 for 10 from the field and led the Dolphins by shooting 4 for 8 from 3-point range, sinking all four of the team’s treys.

Tuana Coskun led the Bison with 19 points while Reese Zemitis scored 14 and Elana Weisman added 10. Dincher was Le Moyne’s only player to score in double figures in Tuesday’s loss at Lewisburg.

Bucknell led 14-4 after the first quarter and held a 25-8 lead by halftime, putting the Dolphins in an early hole.

Bucknell outscored Le Moyne in all four quarters, but the Dolphins played solid in the final two quarters, scoring 16 in the third and 17 in the fourth, but couldn’t claw back.

Bucknell opened the game on a 14-0 run, keeping Le Moyne scoreless for the first eight minutes of the game. Five different Bison found points in the first quarter including six from Coskun to lead the team. Le Moyne broke the Bucknell streak with two made free throws from Jessica Wangolo and then Dincher hit a jumper to make it 14-4 at the end of the first.

The Dolphins maintained their momentum from the end of the first and opened the second with a bucket for a 6-0 run. Kreuzer was then fouled and made a free-throw to break the streak, but Le Moyne answered with a jumper. Ahead of the second quarter media timeout, Kreuzer hit a three to extend the Bison’s lead to ten, which sparked a 10-0 scoring run to end the first half with a 25-8 lead.

The Bison will remain at home for a Black Friday game against Brown on Friday, Nov. 28 at 2 p.m. in Sojka Pavilion, looking to earn a winning record.

The nearly 23 minutes competed on Tuesday is the most Dincher has played in a game this season, surpassing the 20 she played against Cornell on Nov. 22 and 20 against Lafayette on Nov. 9. Prior to Tuesday’s game at Sojka Pavilion, Dincher’s highest point totals were when she scored 12 against Pittsburgh on Nov. 18 and 11 against Baylor on Nov. 16.

The former Bulldogs’ four 3-pointers tie the most she’s made in a game this year as well, matching her high against Pittsburgh.
