The Williamsport girls soccer team knew that it had received a tough draw in the PIAA Class AAAA first round on Tuesday when the Millionaires found out they’d host perennial Philadelphia-area power Central Bucks South.
The Millionaires tried to play with CB South early on, but a Titans team chock-full of future college soccer players rolled, winning 9-0 to advance to the quarterfinals.
“Looking back on it, maybe we should’ve put together more of a defensive game plan. I thought we could hang with them playing as is, but it was always going to be a challenge for our girls,” Williamsport’s Beckham Sibiski said. “My goal was for them to outwork their opponent, but even then, that was an extremely tough and talented team. Within minutes, we could see how quickly they were stringing passes together, and we knew it wasn’t going to be easy and that they were probably going to score at some point. I wish we could’ve hung in there a little longer, made it a game, made it interesting. In November, you never know what can happen.”
Central Bucks South was on the front foot right from the opening whistle, and peppered the Millionaire defensive third with pressure. Virginia Tech commit Riley Karpinski scored two goals in the first sixteen minutes of the match, both with excellent finishes from tough angles. Two more goals came for the Titans in the 21st and 28th minute and by the time Riley Karpinski finished off her first-half hat-trick, the Titans led 5-0 with five minutes remaining in the opening half.
“Their movement is spectacular, but what really stands out is how they move off the ball after making a play. That’s next level. They saw the game one step ahead of where we were tonight,” Sibiski said. “It’s a constant pass and move, and if you get caught watching the ball for even a second as a midfielder or defender, they’re already in behind. They’re sharp, they’re quick, and they move the ball so well.

“They play amazing soccer,” Sibiski continued. “It was truly a spectacle to watch for Central PA, a glimpse at how things operate outside of this area. Around here, you often see one-man shows, but that was a complete team performance with a very talented group.”
CB South would add two more goals before the end of the half to extend their halftime lead to 7-0, and would score two more in the second half to bring the final margin to 9-0.
While the score wasn’t what Williamsport had envisioned, Sibiski thinks that this should serve as an eye-opener to his program people in the area.
“It’s great for them to see. It’s always going to be difficult (for us) because of the lack of soccer opportunities in our area. There’s just not as much going on here as there is outside of Philly, where you’ve got numerous clubs that all those girls play for,” Sibiski said. “You just don’t see that around here. Sure, there are a few girls scattered across different teams who play at that level, but you don’t have an entire roster doing it. I think we play a tough schedule, probably the toughest in District 4, but even then we don’t face teams like that. It’s remarkable how good they are.”
Williamsport will say goodbye to their senior class of nearly a dozen with a lot of good memories to look back on.

“(I’m) super proud of this group, eleven seniors who really stepped up as leaders. They gelled the team together so well. The way they brought everyone together as a true team was just awesome to experience,” Sibiski said. “I’m so grateful for them, especially since they were my first group when I took over — back when they were in eighth grade. It’s just incredible to see them go out with a district win and to finish against such a tough opponent.”
