Montgomery has 6 wrestlers reach championship semis at Turner Holiday Classic

At the 2025 Turner Holiday Classic in Lancaster on Saturday, the area had a number of competitors attempt to take home top-8 finishes and no one had more success than Montgomery’s wrestling program.

The Red Raiders’ Manny Stoltzfus (107), Gabe Oberheim (114), Carden Wagner (133), Brandt Harer (145), Trace Furman (152) and Josh Knoebel (160) all reached the championship semifinals at their respective weights to lead the area with six wrestlers competing for a chance to win gold still.

Harer did what he does best on Saturday and dominated all of his opponents en route to the championship semifinals. Harer earned three tech fall wins, beating Central York’s Armando Silimperi (15-0), Delone Catholic’s Joseph Bunty (15-0) and Souderton’s Dom Ramos (17-0) in easy fashion to reach the semifinals for the Red Raiders.

Wagner reached the championship semifinals thanks to two convincing victories at 133. Wagner earned a 16-0 tech fall against Penn Manor’s Brennan Boland before posting a 20-3 tech fall win in the quarterfinals against Keatin Lattimore of Shikellamy.

Oberheim reached the championship semifinals thanks to posting two tech falls and a pin at 114. Oberham tech’ed Littlestown’s Kannon Klunk in the first round, 15-0, before posting a 15-0 tech fall against Max Hallman of Shikellamy, 15-0. Oberheim then pinned Central Dauphin’s Franco Perri in 1:27 to reach the semifinals.

Stoltzfus reached the championship quarterfinals, losing to Luca Seramone of Delaware Military Academy by fall in 3:29. Montgomery’s Ian Marquette was pinned in the first round by Souderton’s Sam Stratton in 41 seconds as both Red Raiders fell into the consolation bracket.

Furman reached the semifinals at 152 thanks to a pin, major and a decision win. Furman pinned Muhlenberg’s Albert Acevedo in 52 seconds before picking up a 16-5 major in the second round against Exeter Township’s Sam Johnson. Furman then hard a hard-fought 3-2 decision win against Ethan Aftewicz of Pittston.

Knoebel was a semifinalist after winning by fall and major at 160. Knoebel beat St. Joseph Prep’s Keegan Swift by fall in 2:50 before posting a fall in 3:41 against Souderton’s Matt McCormick. Knoebel then had a 11-3 major win in the quarterfinals over Tulpehocken’s Adam Schaaf.

Canton’s Blaine Wesneski reached the championship semifinals thanks to pinning Parker Dell of Littlestown in the quarterfinals in 2:17. Wesneski had a first-round 49-second fall over Pittston’s Carmine BRadley before pinning Aiden Pepe of Hamburg in 3:07 in the third round.

At 133, Canton’s Carson Castle fell to Hallman by tech fall in the first round, 19-4. North Penn-Liberty’s Charles Aumick also fell into the consolations after a first-round loss to Shikellamy’s Jacob Hendricks in 69 seconds by fall.

Jersey Shore’s Gabriel Fisher came one bout shy of reaching the championship semifinals after a tough third-period fall to Delaware Military Academy’s Cole Perrin in 5:01. Fisher earned a 17-1 tech fall over Muhlenberg’s Jaxon Ramich before pinning Bobby Felmy of Shikellamy in 2:27.

Montgomery’s Raiden Felix lost in the first round at 172 to St. Joseph Prep’s Fran Kiching by decision, 6-0.

Jersey Shore’s Travis Merrill lost in the first round by fall at 107 to Avon Grove’s Jackson Hood in 29 seconds and Canton’s Levi Vermilya reached the championship quarterfinals after posting two pins in under 40 seconds, but was pinned by Central Dauphin’s Gabriel Colone in the quarterfinals in 54 seconds to fall into the consolations.

Montgomery’s Carter Finck fell in the first round in the 127 bracket to Radnor’s Alex Stasen by fall in 1:33 to drop into the consolations. Jersey Shore’s Draylen phillips also lost in the first round as he lost via tech fall to Pittston’s Jahiem Butler, 17-2. Canton’s Link Vermilya was pinned in the first round by Souderton’s Ezra Swartley in 1:43.

North Penn-Liberty’s Jonah Naill lost by tech fall to Delone Catholic’s Jax Fhrman, 17-1, in the 133 bracket, as did Dylan Hensler of Jersey Shore to Andrew Wang of Radnor by fall in 1:37. Canton’s Henry Proseus was a firstt-round loser to Waynesboro’s Steven Howard by tech fall, 15-0.

Montgomery’s AJ Kroft earned a first-round win at 139 against Delaware Military Academy’s Griffin Glenn by fall in 1:30, but was pinned in the next round by Central Dauphin’s Pierce Lemmons in 1:45. Canton’s Gavin Sharp earned a first-round 15-0 tech fall win vs Colin Weist of Hamburg before he was pinned by St. Georges Tech’s Bam Cordel in 52 seconds. Canton’s Owen Moore lost in the first round to Tampa Jesuit’s Leo Miranda.

Canton’s Tommy PReston earned an 18-2 tech fall win over Central Dauphin’s Lukas Norbury but lost to Ramos by major decision, 16-4, in the second round at 145.

At 152, Jersey Shore’s Louden Spotts had a second-round loss to Selinsgrove’s Gabe Paradis, 6-5 TB-1, to drop into the consolation bracket.

The Bulldogs’ Tobias Morgret earned a 10-0 major win against Southern’s Talon Piatt in the first round of the 160 bracket, but Morgret was then beaten by Penn Manor’s Ben Paterson by decision, 7-0, to fall into the consolations.

At 189, Montgomery’s Gage Furman reached the second round after earning an 11-1 major win against Exeter’s Landon Garretson, but lost by tech fall to Robert Bossowski of Tampa Jesuit, 20-2, to drop into the consolation bracet. Jersey SHore’s Riley Kanaski also fell into the consolations after a first-round loss to Brayden Ranatuo of Salesianum in 1:11.

Jersey Shore’s Bo Sechrist lost in the first round at 215 to Avon Grove’s Wyatt Holdren by fall in 2:49 to fall into the consolation bracket. Montgomery’s Evan Hugar came a win shy of reaching the semifinals. Hugar beat Exter’s Kyle Manning by fall in 1:31 before pinning Jace Bender of Mifflin County in 2:34, but Hugar lost to Holdren in the quarterfinals by fall in 2:59.

Keigan Clark of Montgomery beat Dane Dipaolo of Delaware Military Academy in the first round at 285 by fall in 2:46 before suffering a 10-5 loss to Kris Duncan of Radnor to drop into the consolations. Canton’s Uriah Talada lost in the first round at 285 to Honor Pondexter of Central York by tech fall, 17-0, and Jersey Shore’s Garrett Barner lost to Adian Hernandez of Avon Grove in the first round by fall in 2:54.
