Montgomery has six medalists at Turner Classic
At the 2025 Turner Holiday Classic in Lancaster, the area had a number of competitors attempt to take home top-8 finishes and no one had more success than Montgomery’s wrestling program.
The Red Raiders’ Manny Stoltzfus (107), Gabe Oberheim (114), Carden Wagner (133), Brandt Harer (145), Trace Furman (152) and Josh Knoebel (160) all reached the championship semifinals at their respective weights to lead the area with six wrestlers competing for a chance to win gold still and all six finished in the top-8 at their respective weights.
After collecting three tech fall wins on Saturday, Harer won the first-place title at 145 with another dominant tech fall — 15-0 — against Conestoga Valley’s Tanner Kane.
Harer did what he does best on Saturday and dominated all of his opponents en route to the championship semifinals. Harer earned three tech fall wins, beating Central York’s Armando Silimperi (15-0), Delone Catholic’s Joseph Bunty (15-0) and Souderton’s Dom Ramos (17-0) in easy fashion to reach the semifinals for the Red Raiders.
At 114, Oberheim dominated in the first-place finals against Southern Columbia’s Rowen Humphry en route to a 17-0 tech fall victory.
Furman was a runner-up at 152 after losing to Central Dauphin’s Luke Hitchcock via major decision, 12-2.
North Penn-Liberty’s Bryce Pequignot took second in the 121 finals after he lost a tough matchup to Central Dauphin’s Thunder Beard via decision, 5-4.
Wagner was a fifth-place finisher in the 133 bracket with a 2:27 pin against St. Joseph Prep’s Maddox Rosenblatt. Knoebel finished with a sixth-place medal at 160 after he lost to Penn Manor’s Ben Paterson by major decision, 13-5. Wagner reached the championship semifinals thanks to two convincing victories at 133. Wagner earned a 16-0 tech fall against Penn Manor’s Brennan Boland before posting a 20-3 tech fall win in the quarterfinals against Keatin Lattimore of Shikellamy.
Knoebel was a semifinalist after winning by fall and major at 160. Knoebel beat St. Joseph Prep’s Keegan Swift by fall in 2:50 before posting a fall in 3:41 against Souderton’s Matt McCormick. Knoebel then had a 11-3 major win in the quarterfinals over Tulpehocken’s Adam Schaaf.
Montgomery’s Manny Stoltzfus took sixth in the 107 bracket after he was pinned by Corbin Strobel of Exeter Township in 1:38. Stoltzfus reached the championship quarterfinals, losing to Luca Seramone of Delaware Military Academy by fall in 3:29. Montgomery’s Ian Marquette was pinned in the first round by Souderton’s Sam Stratton in 41 seconds as both Red Raiders fell into the consolation bracket.
In the 121 bracket, Jersey Shore’s Gabriel Fisher was a seventh-place finisher thanks to a fall over Shikellym’s Bobby Felmy in 3:32 in the final. On Saturday, Fisher came one bout shy of reaching the championship semifinals after a tough third-period fall to Delaware Military Academy’s Cole Perrin in 5:01. Fisher earned a 17-1 tech fall over Muhlenberg’s Jaxon Ramich before pinning Bobby Felmy of Shikellamy in 2:27.
Hugar of Montgomery took seventh after he defeated Chase Miller of Salesianum by a fall in 4:29.
