Three Warriors score in double figures at Goucher
Three Lycoming College men’s basketball players finished in double figures on Wednesday evening, Dec. 3, as the team fell to Goucher College, 72-56, in Landmark Conference action.
Junior Hayden Pardoe – a Central Mountain graduate – finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the year. Senior J.J. Beagle – a Williamsport graduate – had 12 points, shooting 6-of-12, and first-year Elisha Slabach had 10 points and four rebounds. First-year Noa’Sosa Friedman added eight points, three assists and two steals and senior Isaiah Valentine added five points and three steals. Sophomore Princeton Layton added six points and two steals and junior Connor Shanahan added a game-high six assists.
A 3-pointer from Slabach with 13:54 left in the first half gave Lycoming (3-5, 0-3) a 14-8 lead and a 3-pointer from Pardoe with 7:28 left gave Lycoming a 22-19 lead, but Goucher (2-4, 1-2) closed the half on a 18-7 run to lead 37-29.
In the second half, Slabach hit a 3-pointer to pull within six at 41-25 with 16:01 left, but Goucher responded with a 3-pointer to bring the lead back to nine and Lycoming closed within 61-52 with 2:46 remaining off a fastbreak and-one from Friedman, but Goucher was able to hit 9-of-10 at the line in the waning minutes to thwart the comeback.
Darnell Morris led the Gophers with 24 points and eight rebounds and Brian Griffin added 11 points and six assists.
The Warriors will be back on the road on Saturday for a Landmark Conference contest against Drew University. Tipoff from Madison, N.J., is scheduled for 2 p.m., before the women’s game at 4 p.m.
