Local roundup: Jersey Shore girls beat Danville, 44-29

In girls basketball, Sadie Schall and Gracelyn Frantz both scored 11 points and Jersey Shore controlled the middle quarters as it defeated Danville, 44-29. The Bulldogs (10-6, 5-2 HAC-I) outscored Danville, 27-13 in those second and third quarters, while winning for the sixth time in eight games. Seven players scored at least three points for Jersey Shore.

• Jason Harer collected his 10th double-double, going for a career-high 26 points, 15 rebounds and six assists while helping North Penn-Mansfield rout Williamson, 69-37 for its third straight win. Harer dominated the glass and had 11 offensive rebounds. Andy Hermansen scored 17 points, dealt seven assists, pulled down seven boards and added three assists for the Tigers (10-7).

Luke Kreger scored 21 points and Evan McTish had a double-double of 15 points and 16 rebounds in North Penn-Liberty’s 59-55 loss against defending District 4 Class AAA champion Troy. Conner Lewis grabbed 12 rebounds, topping 10 for a ninth straight game. The Mounties (11-6) lost for the first time in seven games but led after each of the first three quarters.

Wellsboro boosted its playoff hopes and won its second straight game, defeating Canton, 61-22. Twelve players scored for the Hornets (10), including Jonathan Carl who had a game-high 10. Colin Fletcher and Marek Mascho both added eight.

Josh Teague scored 10 points for Cowanesque Valley in its 55-38 loss against Wyalusing. Ashtyn Burdick and Trevin Hollenbach added eight each for the Indians, who were playing without leading scorer Levi Stahli.

• Williamsport’s boys wrestling team secured a 49-6 win against Danville at the Magic Dome on Wednesday evening. Collin Nasdeo dominated Ezeriah Tobias at 127 pounds, picking up 16 points for a 16-1, 4:33 tech fall win.

One bout later at 133, Williamsport’s Steven Bott pinned Donovan Sharpe in 1:51. The Millionaires’ Giovanni Ricci then outlasted Zayne Zutetll in a high-scoring contest, 14-13, at 139.

Williamsport’s Jahki Burget pinned Elijah Sherman at 152 in just 43 seconds and at 215, Jackson Raker of Williamsport secured a convincing 16-1, 4:00 tech fall victory against Aiden George.
