Shore relay teams pick up wins in swimming tri-meet vs. Central, Mifflinburg
Jersey Shore’s boys and girls swimming teams competed in a tri-meet with Mifflinburg and Central Columbia. The Shore girls beat Mifflinburg, 94-29, and Central, 85-60, while the Shore boys lost to Mifflinburg, 63-7, and Central, 65-6.
Jersey Shore’s 200 free relay team of Macy Wilton, Brooke Charney, Emily Shemory and Lila Nestlerode won the event in 1:55.11, winning the event by roughly six seconds over the Blue Jays’ team of Mackenzie Thompson, Caroline Comstock, Emma Whitebread and Charlotte Monahon.
Jersey Shore’s B team took third with Addison Miller, Rhian Prowell, Makayla Wrench and Sierra Derr swimming a 2:09.06.
In the girls 400 free relay, Jersey Shore also won with the team of Wilton, Charney, Nestlerode and Shemory swimming a 4:18.49. The team trailed after the first split by nearly a second to Mifflinburg and were behind by three seconds to the Wildcats by the time Charney entered the pool. However, a strong second split — picking up 15 seconds — helped the Bulldogs secure the win.
Wilton was a second-place finisher in the 100 breast while teammate Brooke Charney took first. Mifflinburg’s Natalie Gemberling took first in the event.
Rhian Prowell was a second-place finisher in the 100 breast with a time of 1:28.11 while Central Columbia’s Emma Whitebread took first.
Nathan Grant finished fourth in the boys 200 free wwith a time of 2:06.45.
