Lycoming wrestling wins six in 26-15 win over Misericordia

With a pair of wins over regionally-ranked competitors, the Lycoming College wrestling team downed Misericordia University, 26-15, in a non-conference dual meet on Saturday afternoon in Lamade Gym.

The day was highlighted by a pair of bonus-point wins over regionally-ranked foes, with junior 174-pounder Nolen Zeigler taking a major decision over fifth-ranked Anthony Matas, 16-7, and senior 184-pounder Eli Crum adding a 17-0 tech fall of eight-ranked Robbie Anderson.

Junior 133-pounder Bobby Gardner, a South Williamsport graduate, got the Warriors (8-4) on the board with an 11-1 win over Kruz McCusker, but Misericordia (3-3) won three of the first four bouts to lead 11-4. Senior 157-pounder Kobin Karper righted the ship after an early Cougar takedown, securing a 19-4 tech fall over Chase Stephen at 157 pounds and junior 165-pounder Kaiden Wagner, a Lewisburg graduate, gave Lycoming the lead with a 15-0 first-period tech fall of Jacob Weaver.

Leading 23-12, junior 197-pounder Ivan Neal sealed the win with a third-period takedown to beat Jariel Severino, 11-5.

The Warriors wrap up their regular season with a trip to Oswego State on Sunday, Feb. 15, at 1 p.m.
