Warrior Run has three champions at South Sectional tournament

CATAWISSA — Warrior Run saw four wrestlers advance to their respective championship weight finals on Saturday at the South Sectional tournament and qualified for the District 4 championships Saturday at Williamsport.

Kael Majcher (107 pounds) and Chase Wirnsberger (127), Reagan Milheim (160), Max Wirnsberger (172) all advanced.

Wirnsberger is ranked No. 14 in the state at 127 and had a tough matchup against No. 16th-ranked Jack Gramly of Mifflinburg.

At 127, Wirnsberger secured a tough 4-2 win over Gramley in a good matchup between the two.

Milheim is the second-ranked wrestler in the state at 160 and at 172, Chase Wirnsberger is the third-ranked wrestler in Pennsylvania. Wirnsberger and Gramly were tied 1-1 five seconds into the third period, but Wirnsberger had a takedown with 1:23 left to take a lead he wouldn’t relinquish.

Milheim won at 160 by dominating Midd-West’s Evan Maneval by tech fall, 21-6, 1:51. Max Wirnsberger defeated Nolan Savage in the 172 final with a tough 4-1 decision. Wirnsberger had a takedown nearly a minute into the first period and led 3-1 after Savage had an escape. In the second period, Wirnsberger secured another point with an escape four seconds in. From there, neither wrestler claimed another point.

Majcher lost the 107 final to Mifflinburg’s Collin Roman by fall in 3:18. Majcher led 17-16 in the second period in a high-scoring matchup before Roman was able to secure the fall.

Lewisburg’s Nolan Altoft took silver at 139 when he lost to Mifflinburg’s Ben Straub by tech fall, 18-2, 2;15. At 133, Landon Michaels of Lewisburg fell to Mifflinburg’s Bradley Wagner by tech fall, 19-4, 4:27 in the finals.

In the finals at 189, Milton’s Michael Runkle lost by major decision to Line Mountain’s Cade Feger, 8-0.

Securing third-place medals at the South Sectional from the area were Lewisburg’s Coltyn Lyons (107), Milton’s Bryson Walter (121), Milton’s Ty Locke (139), Lewisburg’s Landen Wagner (152), Milton’s Chase Lytle (160) and Warrior Run’s Noah Johnson (285). Taking fourth were Milton’s Aiden Twigg (133), Milton’s Brody Locke (145) and Milton’s Keegan McCaffery (215).
