The Eastern Lycoming YMCA swim team competed at the YMCA state meet held in Morgantown, West Virginia and saw plenty of success.
The medley relay team of Isaac Moyer (age 10), Grant Summers (10), Jaiden Peachey (9) and Henry Michaluk (10) won the 10-and-under boys medley relay with a time of 2:13.26. The boys also placed second in the 10-and-under boys free relay with a time of 2:01.31.
In addition, they took home a plaque for being the second-best 10-and-under boys team in Pennsylvania. The awards were presented for places first through eighth.
Summers took sixth in the 100 breast in 1:26.14 and eighth in the 50 breast in 38.39. Michaluk took fourth in the 100 free with a time of 1:03.36.
In the 50 free, Peachey finished third in 28.21 and also took second in the 50 fly in 30.80. Peachey had a solid performance as he also claimed a state title in the 100 fly in 1:08.29.
“This is a very special group of boys. They have worked extremely hard this season and that hard work has paid off,” Eastern Lycoming Eels coach Lisa Corbin said, noting that this was the first time in the history of the Eastern Lycoming Eels Swim Team that a relay team won a state title.
“To also have one of the boys be a state champion in an individual event at age nine is truly amazing,” Corbin said. “It will be incredible to watch these boys grow up and to see their continued success in and out of the pool.”
The Eels also had a byos 15-and-over relay team qualify for the YMCA Short Course National Meet on March 30-April 3. The medley team consists of Elliot Deluca, Malachi Moyer, Nolan Scheller and Logan Diehl. Deluca and Moyer are Mifflinburg athletes, Scheller competes for Milton’s varsity team and Diehl was Muncy’s lone independent swimmer this past year.
Moyer will also swim the 100 breast and 100 fly and Scheller will swim in the 50 free.
