ATLANTA – Lock Haven women’s basketball junior Madeline Evans has made program history, becoming the first student-athlete in Lock Haven women’s basketball history to be named a Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) All-American, as an All-American.
The All-America recognition highlights a landmark season in which Evans was also selected as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Defensive Player of the Year and earned a place on the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-Atlantic Region Second Team. A junior center, Evans anchored the interior for The Haven and delivered one of the most productive campaigns in Division II women’s basketball.
Evans recorded 19 double-doubles, leading the nation in that category for much of the year, and paced the PSAC in free throws made with 185, a figure that ranked fourth in Division II. She also led the conference in total rebounds with 344, establishing a new Lock Haven single-season program record. Offensively, she demonstrated exceptional efficiency, shooting 51 percent from the field, 44 percent from three-point range, and 81 percent at the free-throw line.
Evans’s individual excellence translated directly into team success, as the Bald Eagles finished 22-6 overall and went unbeaten in PSAC East play to secure the program’s third consecutive PSAC Eastern Division regular season title.
Evans’s statistical impact placed her among the premier performers in the PSAC and across Division II. She led the PSAC in rebounds per game and total rebounds, while her 185 made free throws led the PSAC and stood among the top marks nationally, underscoring her ability to generate and convert opportunities at the line.
The WBCA NCAA Division II Coach of the Year, Player of the Year and Coaches’ All-America team are selected by the WBCA NCAA Division II Awards Committee from coaches and student-athletes who are nominated by WBCA member coaches. Visit WBCA.org for more information.
