Muncy was led by Rachel Paulhamus (3 for 3) and Sadie Odell (2 for 3), who both hit two doubles apiece.

• A year after excelling as a starting during the postseason, Hughesville’s Nate Bieber showed he is equally impressive as a closer. Bieber entered with the winning runs on base and one out in the seventh inning, striking out both batters he faced and closing out an exciting 1-0 Hughesville win at South Williamsport.

Bieber combined with Brett Whitmoyer and winning pitcher Gage Webb on the shutout, making a first-inning run hold up with some help by a clutch defense. Catcher Kyler Solomon made one of the game’s biggest plays, scooping up a pitch in the dirt and throwing out a runner at third on the run during the sixth inning. Blake Babb hit a one-out single and Wynter Fogelmen scored him a batter later in the first, belting an RBI double. Cole Gerber shined for South, throwing 6 1/3 innings of three-hit baseball and striking out eight. Jaymes Carpenter doubled and Trace Wertz and Cade Lusk also had hits.

Loyalsock erupted for 16 hits in five innings, scoring multiple runs in each of its last four at-bats to defeat Lewisburg, 18-1 in five innings and deliver rookie coach Mike Frederick his first win. Nolan Rall and Jacob Baylor both went 3 for 3 in Loyalsock’s 16-hit attack with Rall driving in four runs. Parker Frederick was 1 for 1 with a double and four RBIs, while Jahvon LaRosa had two hits, a double and three RBIs. “Today was a valuable day of assessment for our team,” Terry said. “I saw a lot of positives, along with areas we know we can improve as we continue to grow as a program. We will get back to work tomorrow as we prepare for the Alvernia Spring Invitational on Tuesday.”

Skylar Pentz finished strong with a 45 on the back-9 to lead Lock Haven with an individual score of 97.
