Penn College softball team ‘all-in’ for United East playoffs

Regular and postseason playoff success have been a way of life for Penn College softball teams throughout this century. Under coach Roger Harris from 2002-15, the Wildcats were 177-174, reaching the playoffs eight times, claiming two championships, two seconds and two thirds. Under coach Jackie Klahold from 2016-19, teams were 76-70, with four playoff appearances and one second-place finish. For the first time in the program's NCAA-era, Penn College's women's tennis team will be featured in a conference championship match as the third-seeded Wildcats upset No. 2 seed Penn State Harrisburg, 4-0, on Tuesday and advances to Sunday's United East Conference Championship. Penn College improved to 9-10 on the season, while Harrisburg is finished at 9-8 overall. LOCK HAVEN - The Lock Haven softball team used a strong bullpen and timely hitting to edge Slippery Rock in a pair of one-run games, 5-4 (8 Innings) and 8-7, to earn a sweep in its final non-conference doubleheader of the year. DUBOIS - The Lock Haven baseball team returned to Clarion to finish its rain-shortened contest from earlier in the season and fell 9-2 to conclude a four-game Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) series on Tuesday. Clarion built a 5-0 lead through three innings on March 22 before the game was called due to rain. TURBOTVILLE — Hughesville’s boys and girls track and field teams swept the competition at a multi-dual at Warrior Run on Tuesday. On the boys side, Hughesville beat Warrior Run (91-59), Southern Columbia (102-43), Montgomery (109-35) and Sullivan County (126-15). The Lock Haven women's lacrosse team traveled to top-seeded East Stroudsburg for the quarterfinal round of the 2026 Pennsylvania State Athletic Championship Tournament. The nationally-ranked Warriors won the contest, 21-6. Gabby Gunnip led the Bald Eagles with a hat-trick, while Makayla Kelly scored twice and Maddy Raspen added a goal.
