Early morning fire damages Muncy Homes Inc.

MUNCY - An early-morning blaze Wednesday extensively damaged one of three production buildings at the modular housing manufacturer Muncy Homes Inc., 1567 Route 442, in Muncy Creek Township, according to Muncy Area Fire Chief Scott Delany. The fire was discovered by a maintenance employee coming to work about 4:15 a.m., Delany said. Smoke was coming out of one of the doors when firefighters arrived on the scene. There was heavy smoke throughout the very large structure. While it only took less than 30 minutes to bring the fire under control, “there was extensive overhaul work that needed to be done,” Delany said. The fire was in a building at the back of the large complex. There were no reports of injuries, he said. Cpl. Nathan Birth, a state police fire marshal, was on the scene hours later, trying to determine the cause of the blaze. In addition to Muncy Area, volunteer firefighters from Pennsdale, Hughesville, Picture Rocks, Montoursville and Loyalsock Township responded.
