A male driver is being sought after shots were reportedly fired Thursday afternoon on Route 220 North near Pine Run Road in Woodward Township. He was reportedly pursuing a woman who was driving an SUV during what was believed to be a domestic situation.

No one was injured, state police confirmed, but they had little else to offer in terms of details.

The man fled the scene in his vehicle, believed to be a pickup truck.

It was initally thought the driver fled north towards Williamsport, but that information proved to be inaccurate, police said. It was later learned the man actually fled south towards Jersey Shore, a police source told the Sun-Gazette.

It was believed the man was armed with a rifle.

While the woman was being pursued, her vehicle crashed in the northbound just north of Pine Run Road. It was unknown if she was forced off the road or lost control. She was being questioned by investigators.

Emergency responders were initially called to a crash about 3:30 p.m., but a dispatcher warned firefighters and paramedics to “stage out of the area” because of reports of shots being fired.

A trooper at the crash scene could not confirm if any shots were actually fired.

The crash shut down Route 220 North from Pine Run Road for about 90 minutes.

Traffic was detoured south on Pine Run Road, east on Youngs Road and back on to Route 220.

Shortly after the crash, law enforcement spotted a pickup truck that was believed to be the suspect’s vehicle traveling north on Route 220 in the city.

Police stopped the driver at the foot of the Maynard Street off-ramp. More than a half a dozen officers raced to scene. It turned out to be the wrong vehicle, and the driver was released.
