Williamsport man charged with additional 1,165 felony counts related to child sexual abuse material

New evidence has surfaced against Lycoming County Prison inmate Steven Carter-Hicks, allegeding that he had more than 1,000 additional images of child sexual abuse material on his laptop comupter and other electronic devices than were originally reported, according to city police.

Initially arrested and jailed in late October on 23 felony counts of sexual abuse of children for possessing child pornography. Carter-Hicks, 69, of 798 W. Edwin St., Williamsport, has now been charged with 1,165 additional felony counts of sexual abuse of children for possessing child pornography plus one felony count of criminal use of a communication device.

“In the months following his initial arrest, a full forensic examination was conducted on Carter-Hicks’ electronic devices,” and it was during that examination that a total of 1,165 images or videos were discovered, police said. Following his arraignment last week before District Judge Christian Frey, Carter-Hicks was recommitted in lieu of an additional $500,000 bail. He waived his preliminary hearing late last year in the original case.
