US Marshals: Texas man nabbed, sexually assaulted minor

A Texas man was taken into custody in Old Lycoming Township Friday morning on a felony charge of sexual assault on a child, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

Javier Acevedo, 43, of Sonora, was nabbed without incident by a task force in the 2800 block of Lycoming Creek Road about 9:30 a.m.

Although he had no local address, he had been employed at a local business for about two months.

Acevedo is wanted in his homestate for allegedly having sexual contact with minors over a number of years in Sutton County, a small county of 4,000 people located in the lower central section of the state, according to the marshals service.

Following his arraignment before District Judge William Solomon, the fugitive was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $1 million.
