Stanley T. Wilk

Stanley T. Wilk, 75, of Williamsport, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was born in New York, N.Y., on Dec. 28, 1943, to the late Max and Elsie (Schwartz) Wilk.

Stanley was a member of Congregation Beth Ha-Sholom, Williamsport, where he served as a president of the Temple. He worked as an anthropology professor at Lycoming College. Stanley was a long-time board member of the James V. Brown Library and a former board member of the Bethune-Douglas Community Center. He loved the New York Mets and Syracuse sports. Stanley also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by two sons, David Wilk (Wendy), Williamsport, and Josh Wilk (Terry), Columbia, Md.; five grandchildren, Maddie, Eli, Nick, Nathaniel, and Sam; a sister, Joan Diamond, West Bloomfield, Mich.; and a sister-in-law, Susan Wenger, Brooklyn, N.Y.

In addition to his parents, Stanley is preceded in death by his loving wife, Rhona (Wenger) Wilk.

The funeral service will be held Thursday at noon at Congregation Beth Ha-Sholom, 425 Center St., Williamsport with Marvin Hurwitz officiating. The family will receive family and friends from 11:30 a.m. to noon. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Williamsport.

In keeping with Jewish tradition, there will be no viewing or flowers.
