Storm presented opportunity to check home emergency plan

Several nights ago the skies opened up – as they have so often this summer.

A downpour that was pretty constant for several hours contributed to 3.5 inches of rain in Williamsport over three days and similar amounts throughout the region.

Sump pumps were busy and streets were flooded.

But it could have been worse.

The high winds and downed trees that were part of the severe thunderstorm warning did not materialize.

What the storms provided was a very revealing test for you and your home.

Is there adequate equipment in place to prevent flooding in your home? What is your plan if power goes out? What is your shelter plan in the event of damaging winds or even a tornado?

Hopefully, the storm forced all area residents to revisit their summer weather emergency plans.

Starting at $2.99/week.
