Woman celebrates 100th birthday with family

Gertrude “Trudy” Beatty, currently a resident at Valley View Nursing Center, Montoursville, celebrated her 100th birthday on March 31, surrounded by her family. She was honored with a surprise party given by her family on April 3, at the home.

Celebrating with Trudy was her daughter, Glenda Nelson, of Rauchtown, her son, James “Jim” Beatty, and his wife, Cindy, of Cogan Station, her daughter-in-law, Carol Beatty, wife of Trudy’s son, Wayne Beatty, who passed away in 2020, of Jersey Shore. Also attending were her grandchildren, Scott Nelson and wife, Donna, of Jersey Shore, Amy Wall, of Shavertown, Tyler Beatty and wife, Amanda, of Downingtown, and Jocelyn Rockwell, and her husband, Mark, of Montoursville. Her great-grandchildren, Victor Nelson, of Jersey Shore, Brynlee and Ellasyn Rockwell, and Peyton and Avery Beatty; twin great-great granddaughters, Annabella and Alena Nelson, and step-great-great grandson, Carter Klaras. Unable to attend was her grandson-in-law, Brad Wall.

Trudy was born and raised in Nippenose Valley, the daughter of the late, Ben and Rebecca Lose. She graduated from Jersey Shore High School in 1944. Trudy married Glenmar “Pud’ Beatty in 1947, and they spent 68 years together prior to his passing in 2015.

Trudy is a retired beautician, having owned and operated her own shop, Trudy’s Beauty Salon, in Jersey Shore, for many years.

She is proud to be one of the oldest living members of Trinity United Methodist Church in Jersey Shore.
