Museum to offer event with Muncy author
The Thomas T. Taber Museum of the Lycoming County Historical Society will host its Coffee Hour at 10 a.m., Oct. 9, with a talk, “Traveling Through Time,” by Linda Poulton of the Muncy Historical Society.
According to a news release, when Linda Poulton and her husband retired in 1994, they returned to Muncy, taking up residence in their restored 1848 Georgian-style brick home.
“Within months, Linda and Bill discovered the Muncy Historical Society and its critical need for volunteers,” the news release said. “They both signed up, not realizing that it would be a thirty-year love story as researchers, tour guides, programming and special events chair people. Linda has also served as editor of the Society’s publication, the Now and Then, A Magazine of History, Biography, and Genealogy.”
In 2024 she authored “17756 Traveling Through Time” a coffee table book published by the Historical Society. For her program, she will highlight many of the unique and rare pieces of Muncy’s past that are featured within the walls of its 40 N. Main St. location and beyond.
“Linda is imminently qualified to amuse us as she relies on Muncy’s fascinating history to entertain,” the news release said.
The lecture will be held in the Community Room of the Taber Museum and is free and open to the public. Light refreshments are served. The lecture series is sponsored by Catherine Burns Insurance Agency.
The museum is located at 858 W. Fourth St., Williamsport. For further information about the museum, visit the museum’s website at www.tabermuseum.org or call 570-326-3326.
