Museum to host program on Laquin Civilian Conservation Corps camp
The LeRoy Heritage Museum will host a program titled, “Laying a Foundation for the Future: Laquin C.C.C. Camp S-103,” at 1:30 p.m., Aug. 30. According to a news release, Museum President Matt Carl will present a new program focusing on the Civilian Conservation Corps camp at Laquin, and the work performed by the men of the camp on Barclay Mountain and along the Schrader Creek. Matt is the author of the book, “Laquin: The Rise and Fall of a Pennsylvania Lumber Town,” and had a great uncle who once worked at the Laquin C.C.C. camp.
