Dr. Cullen Chandler, Frank and Helen Lowry Professor of History at Lycoming College, will review Cat Jarman’s River Kings: A New History of Vikings from Scandinavia to the Silk Roads at 12:15 p.m., Feb. 2 in the Lowry Room of the Welch Family Wing. In River Kings, Jarman “weaves the results of her own research and the history of the Vikings into a compelling and comprehensive understanding that will surprise and delight readers,” a news release said. West Branch Pride to host birthday bash

West Branch Pride will host a Birthday Bash to celebrate one year of Pride Wednesday programs from 6 to 8 p.m., Feb. 14, at the YWCA Northcentral PA. Strength-training classes to help with health

Lifelong Improvements through Fitness Together (LIFT) is an 8-week, in-person strength-training program. Led by a qualified, trained instructor, sessions include an active warm-up, eight core strength-training exercises, and a cool-down. The program also teaches participants easy ways to incorporate fruits and vegetables in their daily diet. The class meets every Monday and Wednesday from 5 to 6 p.m. from Feb. 5 to March 27 at the Penn State Extension Office located at 542 County Farm Road in Montoursville.
