Rotary Club plans to observe World Polio Day with lunch-time event

In honor of World Polio Day, which is recognized on Oct. 24, the Rotary Club of Williamsport will host a “World’s Greatest Meal” to help end polio at noon Monday in the Capital Lounge of the Community Arts Center. According to a news release, rather than enjoy the typical lunch, members and guests will donate their regular luncheon cost to the Polio Plus Fund. James V Brown Library to salute friends’ group at event

The James V. Brown Library, 19 E. Fourth St., will spend the week of Oct. 15-23 recognizing its Friends of the Library group as part of the 18th annual celebration of National Friends of Libraries Week. The Friends of the James V. Brown Library were established in 1956 by Robert P. Henry, a trade union worker who wanted to raise funds to help renovate the library.
