Making their debut in their new home at the Williamsport Scottish Rite Auditorium, The Great Lakes Wind Symphony will perform its “Celebrate America” concert at 7:00 p.m. July 4, according to a press release. The GLWS is staffed by 44 professional musicians, with expansion of members as the music they perform requires. As a true wind ensemble, there is one player per part, with exception of some woodwinds where some doubling of players exists for balance with the brass and percussion. The Uptown Music Collective, the area’s premier nonprofit school of music, is now accepting scholarship applications for its 2026-2027 school year, which will begin in September. According to a news release, this year, the Collective is offering 13 needs- and merit-based scholarships to currently enrolled students, as well as new students wishing to enroll in the school for the upcoming year.
