Two charged in separate shoplifting cases
When state trooper went to Alexandrea Sheffield’s home at 1951 Inverness Road in Loyalsock Township in late April to question her about $47 worth of merchandise she allegedly stole from the Giant supermarket on East Third Street, the 39-year-old woman asked him “if the store would be willing to work with her so that she could pay for the items,” according to an affidavit.
It turned out that Sheffield already has been convicted of shoplifting five times, court records stated. In this latest incident, police allege Sheffield stole the merchandise from the store between April 12 and April 20. Following her arraignment before District Judge Gary Whiteman on felony shoplifting, she was released on $15,000 bail.
In another case, after stealing a necklace and a pendant from a locked cabinet at Walmart in Montoursville on March 7, store employee Eric Thomas Kurtz Jr., 24, of 345 Huffman St., wore the stolen jewelry to work the very next day, borough police alleged in an affidavit. The theft was caught on a store surveillance camera, police said. The value of the stolen merchandise was $356, police said. Following his arraignment before Whiteman on misdemeanor charges, he was released on $5,000 bail.
