Five charged with drug offenses in separate cases

Douglas Curtis Jr., 34, of 613 Grier St., who goes by the street name “T,” has been charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and illegal use of a cellphone after selling 1.75 grams of cocaine to an informant in the 1400 block of Sycamore Road in Loyalsock Township last May 9, state police alleged in an affidavit. Curtis, who also is known as Douglas Smart, has waived his preliminary hearing before District Judge Gary Whiteman and remains jailed in lieu of $25,000 bail.

In another drug case Whiteman is handling, Daniel Morgret, 49, of 3731 Lycoming Creek Road, faces identical charges after he was found to be in possession of .76 grams of crack cocaine on Basin Street in the city on Aug. 24, investigators with the county’s Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU) alleged in an affidavit. Investigators intercepted Morgret as he was supposedly going to deliver the controlled substance to an informant in South Williamsport, it was alleged in an affidavit. Morgret admitted he bought the crack cocaine at a home at 1011 Railway St. in the city, a property identified by investigators as “a known drug resident,” the court document stated. Morgret remains jailed in lieu of $15,000 bail following his arraignment earlier this year.

In another NEU case, Elaine Harris, 64, of 447 Wilson St., has been charged with delivery of a controlled substance and illegal use of a cellphone for allegedly selling 14 bags of suspected heroin — all labeled “two scoops” — to an informant at Harris’ home on Aug. 31, it was alleged in court papers. Following her arraignment before District Judge Aaron Biichle, she was released on $25,000 bail.

In a third NEU case, William Watson, 33, of 325 High St., already incarcerated on another criminal matter, was arraigned last week before Frey on a felony charge of delivery of a controlled substance for his alleged involvement in the sale of methamphetamines to an informant in the 1300 block of West Fourth Street in the city last Aug. 30. He was recommitted in lieu of an additional $15,000 bail.

In another case, city police have charged Jeffrey Randolph, 35, 400 Lycoming St., apartment 704, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia for allegedly having an assortment of hydrocodone and buprenorphine pills in the 1300 block of Washington Boulevard on Sept. 10, according to court papers. Following his arraignment before Whiteman, he was released on $10,000 bail.
