Firefighters respond to several crashes across Williamsport on Friday

City firefighters were kept busy Friday responding to a handful of accidents, including this one at High and Oliver streets where a red Kia Soul and a white Chevrolet Impala collided about 12:40 p.m. The Impala’s back window was smashed by the crash. Both drivers were evacuated at the scene, but declined further treatment. Forty minutes earlier, one motorist struck the rear of another on Interstate 180 East, just east the Hepburn Street interchange, causing a highway traffic jam. No one was injured. At 10:30 a.m., firefighters responded to the parking lot at the YWCA on Walnut Street where a woman’s car struck two flagpoles, fire officials said, adding that the driver was not injured.
