New Jersey man jailed following argument with ex-girlfriend in car

During a heated argument late Sunday with his ex-girlfriend while she was driving, Shaki D. Cohen grabbed the steering wheel twice, almost causing a crash on Lycoming Creek Road in Old Lycoming Township, Lycoming Regional police alleged in an affidavit. Two children under 3 were in the vehicle at the time, police said. The woman pulled into a parking lot and ordered the 20-year-old Cohen to get out of the car, police said. Cohen grabbed both her wrists and covered her mouth with a hand, preventing her from yelling for help, it was alleged. For at least the next 20 minutes, the victim tried again and again to get Cohen out of the car, police said, adding that when the man finally did get out, the woman quickly locked the doors and drove away to get help. Following his arraignment before District Judge William Solomon on felony charges of endangering the welfare of children and strangulation as well as one misdemeanor count of recklessly endangering another person, Cohen, of Trenton, New Jersey, was jailed in lieu of $50,000 bail.
