Multiple emergency crews were called to a vacant residence in the 1500 block of Memorial Avenue when a fire broke out in the structure just before 9 p.m. Sunday night.

Upon arrival, flames could be seen shooting from two sides of the wood frame house, city fire officials said, according to scanner reports.

Just minutes later, the blaze was upgraded to a second alarm, calling in additional units from Montoursville, Old Lycoming Township, Loyalsock, Jersey Shore and South Williamsport.

Downed live power lines added to the dangers faced by responding crews.

The bulk of the fire was reportedly knocked down by 9:20 p.m.

Starting at $2.99/week.
