City police have detained a person of interest following a fatal overnight shooting in the 2000 block of Central Avenue, according to a post to the crimewatch website.

Police responded to the area just before 12:30 a.m. Saturday morning, and discovered a 41-year-old male with multiple gunshot wounds, the post said.

The victim, unidentified at this time, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The person of interest was transported to police headquarters.
