Police release additional details of weekend shooting incident, no charges to be filed at this time
City police have released the identities of those involved in a fatal shooting that occurred just before 12:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
City police were initially called to a residence in the 2200 block of Central Avenue for a report of a male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to initial scanner reports.
A city police post to www.crimewatch.com makes no mention of how many times Andrew Tubbs was struck, stating he suffered “a gunshot wound.”
The victim, 40-year-old Andrew Tubbs, was found on the front porch of a residence, and was later pronounced dead at the scene, Lycoming County Coroner Charles Kiessling Jr. said in a statement late Saturday.
Earlier in the evening, Andrew Tubbs had been involved in an altercation with his father, who also lives at the residence, after which Andrew Tubbs retrieved a kitchen knife.
Tubbs’ father subsequently contacted his grandson, Kaiden Tubbs, 21, and an altercation erupted between Kaiden and Andrew upon Kaiden’s arrival, the Crimewatch post said. During the altercation, Andrew Tubbs produced the knife, and was shot by his son, using a legally owned firearm, authorities said.
Kaiden Tubbs remained at the scene, and was transported to police headquarters, where he and multiple witnesses were interviewed.
“Following consultation with the Lycoming County District Attorney’s Office, it was determined that no charges would be filed against Kaiden Tubbs at that time,” the Crimewatch post read.
The investigation remains active and ongoing investigation at this time, and anyone with additional information is asked to contact Agent Joshua Bell at 570-327-7541.
