Montoursville heads to state Decathlon finals for 19th straight year
The Academic Decathlon of Central Pennsylvania held its District Competition for the 2025-2026 year at Carlisle High School on Jan. 30. Montoursville came in third place overall and second place among small schools, high enough to qualify for the State Finals for the 19th straight year. Medal winners in the Honors Division were Cat Hittle (11th) – gold in Speech, bronze in Literature; Abel Conahan (10th) – bronze in Essay, Social Science and Economics; and Ruby Watts (11th) – bronze in Speech. Medal winners in the Scholastic Division were Morgan Hood (11th) – gold in Music, bronze in Literature and Math; and Zion Brown (10th) – gold in Science, bronze in Music and Economics. Medal winners in the Varsity Division were Reese Peterson (12th) – gold in Economics and Speech, silver in Essay and Social Science, bronze in Music and Art, and the gold medal for Overall Score; Sadie Hall (11th) – silver in Math; and Rylee Tillema (11th) – bronze Music. Medaling in the Individual Division were Carter Reeder (9th) – gold in Math, silver in Music; Nadia Farenish (10th) – silver in Interview, bronze in Music and Art; Elias Rodriguez (11th) – silver in Economics; Alexis Zimmerman-West (10th) – bronze in Science; Izabella Weaver (9th) – bronze in Art; and Reagan Greene (9th) – bronze in Interview. Also competing from Montoursville were sophomores Allison Chapman, Storie Holtzman, Charlie Jackson and Angelina Rockey; and freshmen Giulian Berardelli and Liam Connor.
