District judges kept busy with multiple cases
City man jailed on assault-related charges
When the city police officer walked into the emergency room at UPMC Williamsport to interview an assault victim about 1:40 a.m. Monday, he saw Jaimee Feigles, the victim, with her right arm in a sling, according to court records.
There were “several defensive bruises” on the arm, the officer said in an affidavit.
Feigles told the officer that during an argument, her boyfriend, Dorian Branch, 41, severely beat her with a crutch as she was attempting to leave the apartment the two share at 707 Hepburn St.
“I’m going to kill you, b—-,” Branch told the woman, breaking the crutch as he struck her, police were told.
Charged with terroristic threats and simple assault, Branch was arraigned Tuesday night before District William Solomon and committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $35,000 bail.
Intoxicated man charged with resisting arrest
One minute Darryl Beck was lying on the sidewalk in the puddle of his own urine in the 100 block of West Third and then the next he was suddenly on his feet yelling, a city patrolman wrote in an affidavit.
Police had been dispatched to the scene about 1:30 a.m. on April 15 to investigate a report of “a man down,” the officer said.
Beck, a 34-year-old homeless man, “was slurring his speech to the point where we could not understand anything he was saying,” the office said.
Beck was taken by ambulance to UPMC Williamsport to be evaluated. During the ride, “Beck was talking into an invisible cellphone, asking a make-believe female ‘Why am I not enough,’ ” according to the officer.
Once Beck arrived at the emergency room, the situation turned sour very quickly.
“Beck became violent, taking a fighting stance with medical staff, yelling and spitting in their faces. He then pulled out a lighter and attempted to light it. He was told multiple times he could not have a lighter or a cigarette in the emergency department,” the officer said.
When he was told he was under arrest, Beck “actively resisted” and was taken to the floor, but “he refused to give up his hands and continued to try to stand up to flee,” the officer said.
“Once in handcuffs, Beck kept yelling and disrupting the emergency department. He was taken to an examining room, where he required the attention of a physician, five nurses, two security guards” plus city police, the officer added.
Beck allegedly kicked one security officer and began yelling profanities, police said. Following his arraignment on charges of resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness, he was jailed in lieu of $5,000 bail.
City man allegedly exposed himself
Kurtus James Fox, 34, of the rear of 350 Louisa St., has been charged with indecent exposure, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness following a disturbance in the 800 block of Elmira Street in which he exposed himself and repeatedly screamed at neighbors about 5:50 p.m. on April 23, city police alleged in court papers.
Following his arraignment later that night before District Judge Jon E. Kemp, Fox was initially jailed, but has since been released $10,000 bail.
Former waitress charged
Shannon Kent, 44, of 653 Hepburn St., has been charged with theft and receiving stolen property for allegedly stealing $75 from the Laziza Pakwan Restaurant, 427 W. Third St., on Dec. 8, city police said.
At the time, Kent was a waitress there, police said. She is free on $2,500 bail set by District Judge Christian Frey.
Man jailed for allegedly selling large quantity of drugs
Nazeer Burks, 27, whose last known address was of the 1000 block of Vine Avenue, has been jailed on charges of allegedly selling to a confidential informant hundreds of bags of fentanyl — that were sold as heroin — on three occasions in the city during a four-week period beginning on Aug. 20, 2019, according to an affidavit filed by a member of the county’s Narcotics Enforcement Unit.
Burks allegedly sold 150 bags in the 600 block of Maple Street; 240 bags in the 400 block of Louisa Street and 500 bags of heroin in the 1000 block of Vine Avenue, court records state.
Arraigned earlier this month before District Judge Aaron Biichle on three counts each of delivery of a controlled substance and illegal use of a cellphone, Burks remains locked up in lieu of $85,000 bail. The charged were filed last month.
Theft charges lodged against city man
Gerald Jordan, 57, of 324 Park Ave., has been charged with theft and receiving stolen property for allegedly stealing a package of shoes that were delivered to another tenant who lives in his apartment building on Jan. 18, city police said.
Police allege Jordan stole the package after it was delivered to John Beirlair and left in the building’s secured lobby.
Beirlair began knocking on doors in the building. Jordan’s fiancee answered the door and handed back the shoes, telling Beirlair that they did not fit Jordan. Following his arraignment before Biichle, Jordan was free on $5,000 bail.

Hedrick was stopped because he was “drifting back and forth in his lane of travel” while operating a pickup truck, police said. Charged with DUI and careless driving, he had a blood-alcohol concentration level of .89, police said. He is free on $5,000 bail set by District Judge Gary Whiteman.

He was charged with DUI and careless driving after a blood test revealed his blood-alcohol concentration level was .17, police said.
