Pennsylvania State Police Troop F Citizen Police Academy applications due Feb. 2
It’s time to start to think about enrolling in the Pennsylvania State Police Troop F Citizen Police Academy.
This six-week look inside the world of the police officer is a program designed to expose selected citizens to training officers.
They will learn law enforcement concepts and responsibilities and a forum for understanding and communication between citizens and police officers.
Individuals selected to participate gain a greater understanding of police practices and a deeper sense of law enforcement agency duties.
Participants have the opportunity to influence the two-way conversation necessary to reveal areas of improvement in the partnerships between the police forces and the general public.
During the six Wednesday evening sessions, participants receive instruction and get hands-on learning of many police procedures, techniques and learn about specific topics. These include use of force, crash reconstruction, forensics, criminal investigation, DUI enforcement, and more who will be taught by members of the PSP and local departments.
Sessions will be from 6 to 8 p.m. starting March 5 and end April 9. These will take place at Bucknell University, Graham Learning Center, 754 ROTC Drive, Lewisburg. Participants must be able to attend at least five of the six sessions in order to graduate.
Participants must be 18 years of age or older, and possess no criminal history. Register by submitting your application. It must be postmarked no later than Feb. 2. Class size will be limited to 25 participants who are accepted on a first come, first serve basis. Once your application is received, the PSP conducts a brief criminal background investigation. There is no cost to attend this program.
