Police searching for gunman who shot into Williamsport residence

City police are looking for the gunman who fired multiple shots at a home in the 900 block of Memorial Avenue late Sunday night. No one was injured.

“I heard five to six shots, but I didn’t see anything,” one neighbor said. The shots were fired about 11:45 p.m., police said. Investigators did not say why this particular property may have been targeted.

No one has yet been charged in the shooting death of 15-year-old Brialynn Johnson-Murray, of Williamsport, who was slain near First Avenue and Park Place in the city about 12:10 a.m. on Nov. 1. He was rushed to UPMC Williamsport, where he died in the operating room about 1:30 a.m. A little less than an hour before the shooting, another 15-year-old city boy was shot twice in the chest while hosting a party at his home, just around the corner in the 800 block of Park Avenue about 11:20 p.m. on Oct. 31. The teen survived, and city police arrested within hours the alleged gunman, Zaire Jones-Wallace, 25, of 1641 Taylor Place, charging him with attempted homicide and related offenses. Jailed on no bail, Jones-Wallace had a scheduled preliminary hearing Tuesday before District Judge Aaron Biichle.

Investigators have not commented on whether they believed the shootings of the two teens were related.
