Vincent R. A. Crouse

In loving memory of our father whose gifts of love and support will be with us forever. Vincent R. A. Crouse, 94, passed away March 26, 2015, peacefully at the Williamsport Home surrounded by members of his family. The son of Edwin C. Crouse and Mary A. Pouliott Crouse, Vince was a long time resident of Loyalsock Township and loving husband to the former Regina Teresa McKernan (died April 16, 2007).

With his father’s assistance and in partnership with two of his brothers, Edwin F. and Jerome W. Crouse, Vince established the Crouse Funeral Home in 1942 and remained an active licensed Funeral Director for 72 years. During that time he was active in the community as a lifetime member of the Gesang Verein Harmonia as well as the Keystone League, a member of Knights of Columbus council 366 and Fourth Degree Member of the Father Reichsteiner’s Assembly, a member of the Williamsport County Club, the Eagles Mere Lake Association and St. Ann Roman Catholic Church. He was a graduate of the former St. Joseph High School and Eckle’s Mortuary College.

Vince was a World War II veteran serving in the army in the Pacific theatre from 1943 to 1946. After returning home, he took advantage of the GI Bill and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Lycoming College in 1951 and a Master of Arts degree from Bucknell University in 1952, where he studied history, a lifelong interest and passion.

He married his wife Regina in 1948 and started a family. He was a devoted father, who also enjoyed traveling, playing golf and perhaps best of all a good game of bridge.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Dr. Eric (Jane) Crouse, of Indianapolis Ind., Karen (Gary) Spies, of Williamsport, Jeffrey (Mary Elaine) Crouse, of Williamsport, Mary Ann (Paul) Crouse-Novak, of Williamsport, James (Lee Oatey) Crouse, of Seattle, Wash., Carl (Pam) Crouse, of Williamsport and Elizabeth Crouse, of Sterling, Va.; thirteen grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his wife Regina of 59 years, his parents, and siblings, Joseph, Edwin, Robert, Jerome and Kathleen and their spouses.

The family will receive family and friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, March 29, at the Crouse Funeral Home, 133 E. Third St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. March 30, at St. Ann Roman Catholic Church, 1220 Northway Road.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Vince’s name to the Susquehanna Foundation, 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701 for the benefit of the Susquehanna Hospice.
