William Larue Lupton
William Larue Lupton, 81, of Easton, Md., died Sept. 17, 2020 at Seasons Hospice in Sinai Hospital, Baltimore, after a brief illness. Bill was the son of William Lupton Sr. and Isabel Kirby. He was born on June 7, 1939 and grew up in Williamsport, with his three sisters, Mary Ellen (deceased), Elizabeth and Christy. He graduated from Mount Saint Mary’s College, then Temple University with an M.A. in English literature. He taught English at Morgan State University in Baltimore before going on to exploit his considerable talent in designing and remodeling houses. His last project was his beautiful home in Easton, Md., where he moved in 2019.
His marriage to Mary Jane Hohman in 1962 ended in divorce. His second marriage to Shirley Landon in 1988 ended in her death in 2010. He married Lauren Carter on Jan. 3, 2015. His survivors include his twin daughters, Julia Reinhard Lupton of Irvine, Calif., and Ellen Lupton, of Baltimore; his six grandchildren; his stepchildren, Sarah and Robert Landon; his sisters, Elizabeth Bernardi of Lexington, S.C. and Christy Gibble of Little Egg Harbor, N.J.; and his wife, Lauren Carter of Easton, Md.
Bill had a fierce intellect and was a student of classic and popular culture in many forms. He was passionate about modern architecture and art, movies and music. He loved dogs, cats and babies and was loved by his friends and family for his big heart. He will be greatly missed.
