The author of the letter titled “Another Anniversary” owes an apology to everyone who has served in our United States Marine Corps.

In the letter he accuses both the Marines and a Republican Administration of abandoning Marines on the beach in Cambodia on May 12, 1975.

Abandon is defined as “cease to support of look after (someone) to desert” and is a distasteful choice of words to be used in this context.

I am not familiar with the May 12th action but I do know that no Marine would knowingly desert a fellow Marine. I am sure that the details surrounding this action would paint a believable picture of what occurred.

As to any administration taking part in a military action, the withdrawal from Afghanistan is the only one which I am aware of.
