Natural gas isn’t just providing cleaner, more affordable and reliable energy to Pennsylvania residents – it’s also helping to power and support new industries. One of the most recent examples is the influx of data centers – which require a substantial amount of energy to operate.

This past spring, it was announced that the site of a shuttered coal-fired power plant located in western Pennsylvania will be transformed into a natural gas-powered data center. And while this development project represents the largest capital investment in the state’s history, it isn’t the only example of how the natural gas industry is playing a critical role in the development of the emerging data center industry.

This is a win/win for our state.

Not only has the natural gas industry cemented Pennsylvania’s role as a global energy leader, it is also helping other industries to flourish. A growing economy means more jobs and greater opportunities – factors that are key in making Pennsylvania a top destination for people to live and raise their families. Additionally, a thriving economy means greater revenue generation – providing the state and our local governments with the revenue to improve our infrastructure and fund community projects.

The natural gas industry is an economic driver and job creator, supporting many other industries and helping to create opportunities not only for this generation but for future ones as well.
