An economic fable

U.S. Rep. Dan Meuser’s recent column paints a dramatic story of economic collapse under President Biden and a sudden comeback under President Trump. But that story doesn’t match what people in our communities live every day, whether it’s “a waitress in Tamaqua, a doctor in Danville, a farmer in Lebanon, a senior in Williamsport, a small business owner in Bloomsburg, or a coal miner finishing a shift in Schuylkill County.” Those trying to keep up with grocery bills, rent, housing costs, or gas prices believe their own experience more than a politician’s abject sales ...

Accountability

The Obama/Biden years did more harm to our country than we will ever know. Obama has been called the Great Divider. Biden has been called numerous names, too many to list, none presidential. I believe both are responsible for the mayhem in our country today due to the open border policies of the regime with Obama pulling the strings of socialism. Will they be held accountable? We have many rioters protesting against ICE agents’ removal of illegal immigrants that have killed many innocent Americans. The criminals did not come into our country legally so why should they be afforded ...

Be careful what you vote for

Prayer should be implemented back into our schools. The Ten Commandments and our Constitution should be put in every school hallway. History must be mandatory — not the rewritten history but the original history that I was taught when I was in school. Ask the students today who Ponce de Leon, Vasco Da Gama or even Eli Whitney or Alexander Graham Bell are or what the Louisiana Purchase was. They need to be told that slavery wasn’t started here but it started in Biblical times and also done in Africa. Slavery is not right but it is still going on to this very day. A judge just told ...

Fear

When I was attending Lycoming College shortly after the end of the Vietnam war, Dr. Michael Roskin (the best lecturing professor ever!) taught a political science course there on why nations go to war. While examining the Vietnam War one day, the topic of the War Powers Act came up. Dr. Roskin stated he thought this topic was important enough to throw out his planned lesson for that day and proceeded to spell out for the class how liberal zeal to rein in the power of the president and prevent another Vietnam had actually strengthened that power and abilty of the office to do so. As a ...

About time

Before any of the Democrats’ crocodile tears or hateful responses to the military action taken by President Trump and Israel to destroy the evil empire of Iran start overflowing the Letter to the Editor inbox, I would like to comment about the situation. It seems that all Democrats, save one, are adamantly against any actions taken by President Trump that would ensure the safety of all Americans, including Democrats. They jump on their soap box of hatred towards this man with their lies and mis-statements. Especially guilty are those of a certain faith who do not have the best ...

Protect elections

Trump bragged about being a peace keeper; he wanted the Nobel Peace Prize. What happened? Iran posed no threat to Americans; yet we attacked them for no clear reason. Nothing justifies our killing over 800 Iraqi civilians, including nearly 150 innocent school girls, as young as 12. Hours before our attack, the foreign minister of Oman revealed concessions Iranians had made in negotiations: not just agreeing to not stockpile uranium, making it impossible to build a bomb, but diluting the uranium it currently holds and agreeing to full verification by International Atomic Energy Agency ...
