Bucknell’s season didn’t go particularly as it had hoped, but the Bison did end the season on a positive note by edging Marist, 24-13, on Saturday afternoon in Washington, D.C.

Marist held a 13-3 lead at the half, but the Bison rallied in the second half by scoring 21 points and the defense played outstanding, shutting out Marist in the final two quarters.

The win caps Bucknell’s season at 3-8, 2-4 in the Patriot League. Marist is 4-7.

Trailing 13-3, it was Rushawn Baker who caught a 2-yard touchdown pass from Nick Semptimphelter with 5:02 to play in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 13-10. Bucknell then took the lead on a 10-yard run by Semtimphelter early in the fourth quarter and extended it to 24-13 with a score with 2:03 remaining when Baker ran it in from 6-yards out.

Bucknell’s ground game played great in the win, accumulating 245 rushing yards on 51 carries. Defensively, the Bison limited Marist to just 168 yards of total offense, 89 of which was passing. Baker ran for 120 yards on 19 carries, averaging 6.3 per carry. Coleman Bennett ran for 80 on 16 carries for 5.0 per carry.

Semptimhpleter finished the day 11 for 19 for 93 yards and a touchdown pass.

The Bison recorded four sacks, as Dominick Dulton, Aaron Acosta, Nick Jackson and Halil Gecaj each had one. In addition, that foursome also had at least one tackle for loss. Jacson and Teddy Wright both had six solo tackles and Clayborne Fields III and Camron Ball had four.
