Lock Haven men’s basketball falls at Seton Hill, 92-58
GREENSBURG – The Lock Haven men’s basketball fell on the road at Seton Hill, 92-58, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action on Wednesday afternoon.
Seton Hill used a blistering shooting performance and a decisive run late in the first half to build a 20-point halftime cushion, leading 47-27 at the break before pulling away in the second half.
The Griffins shot 50 percent from the field and 39.4 percent from three while holding Lock Haven to 35 percent overall and 20 percent from beyond the arc.
Devon Nelson paced Lock Haven with a team-high 10 points, adding four rebounds and an assist off the bench.
Dean Coleman-Newsome followed with nine points and four boards, while Keith Warren chipped in eight points on a pair of first-half threes.
The Bald Eagles also received a boost from their reserves, who combined for 29 bench points, highlighted by six points each from Deandrae Seeden and Chris Cornish and five from Mike Knouse.
Lock Haven finished 21-of-60 from the floor, including 6-of-30 from three-point range and 10-of-17 at the free-throw line. The Bald Eagles battled to a 35-10 advantage in bench scoring but were out-rebounded 46-35 and outscored 38-20 in the paint. Seton Hill turned 14 Lock Haven turnovers into 14 points and generated 24 fast-break points to control the tempo throughout.
With the result, Lock Haven moves to 4-5 overall and 0-2 in PSAC play, while Seton Hill improves to 8-2 and 2-1 in conference action.
Lock Haven returns home on Saturday (3 p.m.) to host California (Pa.) in a PSAC East vs. West crossover game in Thomas Fieldhouse.
