Lyco women’s basketball falls to second-ranked Scranton

The Lycoming College women’s basketball team fell, 88-36, in a Landmark Conference matchup against the second-ranked University of Scranton on Wednesday at Lamade Gym.

Seniors Victoria Burton and Allison Fisher led the Warriors with six points apiece, while Fisher was 2-for-5 from outside the three-point line. First years Ciara O’Hara and Lena Walker – a Central Mountain graduate – each chipped in five points, with O’Hara going a perfect 5-for-5 from the charity stripe. Sophomore Jocelyn McCracken – a Jersey Shore graduate – dished out four assists.

After the two teams traded one made shot apiece in the first two minutes, Scranton (14-0, 7-0) went on a 9-0 run to lead Lycoming (5-9, 1-6), 20-7, after a quarter. The Warriors scored 22 points in the second half, with 11 of the team’s 13 players that saw action finding a spot in the scoring column in the game.

Scranton was led by Kaci Kranson with 18 points and six rebounds, while Sophia Talutto and Elizabeth Bennett eached scored a dozen.

The Warriors will be back in action on Saturday with a Landmark Conference road tilt against Elizabethtown College, who is receiving votes in the D3 poll. Tip-off from Thompson Gymnasium in Elizabethtown is scheduled for 4 p.m.
